About Amour
Amour Ahorukomeye was born and raised in a village near Akagera national park Rwanda, where hunting was a way of life for many. Though exposed to poaching in his youth, he always felt a deep sadness when witnessing the loss of wildlife. That emotional connection became the foundation of his mission: to protect animals and share their stories with the world.
After completing secondary school in Tourism and Hospitality, Amour pursued his dream of becoming a tour guide. In March 2014, he began serving Akagera National Park as a Community Freelance Guide, quickly distinguishing himself for his knowledge, empathy, and ability to connect visitors with Rwanda’s landscapes and wildlife. He later advanced his studies at Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC), strengthening his expertise while continuing to guide in the field.
Today, Amour is a dedicated Field Guide and Tourism Professional, working not only in Akagera National Park but across Rwanda and internationally. His story reflects resilience, transformation, and a deep commitment to conservation. Through guiding, he inspires visitors to appreciate Rwanda’s natural beauty and advocates for the protection of its biodiversity, ensuring that future generations can experience the richness of Africa’s wildlife.
